Direct Access helps 93 year old enjoy the views again

My 93 year old mother’s mobility has declined in the last few years and she is now a wheelchair user

It was a relief to talk to Alan Scott of Direct Access UK Limited in April 2015 about fitting an accessibility ramp for my mother’s house in Lambourn, Berkshire. I had tried a number of companies, spent time on waiting lists and was becoming increasingly frustrated.

On a recommendation, I contacted Alan who was extremely helpful. I explained I only had a limited time to meet with him as I needed to return to Manchester for work. He arranged an appointment to meet at my mother’s property within two days, explaining I could use the website to gain some prior understanding of the products that his company manufactured.

On the day of the meeting Alan was travelling south but chose to meet with myself and my husband at an earlier time which was convenient for us. He was very complimentary about my mother’s home and garden and immediately put us all at ease, reassuring us that a ramp could be able to be fitted within a two week period and it would give my mother accessibility to both left and right of her front door.

Alan completed the measurements within the hour. Within two days he emailed me drawings of the ramp. We selected the most appropriate design following discussions with Alan.

From our initial meeting the ramp was fitted within two weeks. The end product is fantastic. Not only does my mother now have full accessibility to her garden and the wonderful views of the Berkshire Downs, the ramp is also aesthetically pleasing. The surface where it has been fitted is very uneven. However, the ramp has designed to allow for this and feels extremely secure and safe. My mother has some elderly friends who have commented on how much they like the ramp and that the railings that support their access!

I would highly recommend Alan and Direct Access. The service we received was excellent and the finished product is fantastic.
